Arson attack causes £500,000 worth of damage in Barking

An arsonist has set fire to a large number of cars, causing half a million pounds worth of damage to the surrounding vehicles and buildings. 

It took place during the early hours of this morning in River Road in Barking near the junction with Atcost Road. 

The blaze has left cars completely hollowed out and beyond repair over a wide area with nearby establishments also being affected. 

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them with any information relating to the incident by calling 101.
