Bengal Spice, in New Road, went up in flames just after 7.30pm yesterday.
The restaurant is believed to have been permanently closed prior to the blaze.
Part of the ground floor and roof were damaged in the blaze, which was brought under control by firefighters at around 9.20pm.
Four fire engines from Harold Hill, Dagenham and Barking fire stations attended the fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
