Heathway closed following car crash

Dagenham Heathway has been closed after a car crashed into bollards this afternoon.

The crash happened just before 2pm today, near to the junction with Church Elm Lane.

Witnesses say the car had sped round the corner before the crash, and the driver initially fled on foot before returning to the scene of the crash.

It is understood the road is still closed while Firefighters deal with a gas leak.
