North Ockendon golf club ordered to increase security after man’s death

Havering Council has told a golf club to increase security at its venue in North Ockendon, following an incident where a 37-year-old man died.

Adam Fairbrass, from Hornchurch, passed away two days after he was restrained at Top Meadow Golf Club in Fen Lane.

Police were called to the venue just before 11pm on Saturday, 7 December, and Adam collapsed soon after they arrived.

He died in hospital on Monday, 9 December.

The Metropolitan Police applied for a summary review of the premise’s licence and a committee at Havering Council met on Monday, 16 December.

Ahead of a full hearing on Wednesday, 8 January, interim measures were put in place, including the provision of additional security at the golf club.

Police have charged four men with GBH in connection with the incident.
