Emergency services outside Romford station yesterday
The incident, which is not believed to be suspicious, happened shortly before 5pm yesterday.
Emergency services rushed to the station but the woman, who was aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident led to delays and cancellations on TfL Rail and Greater Anglia trains running through the area.
Romford station was also closed to passengers until at least 6.30pm, although commuters were able to exit the station.
British Transport Police said a report will be prepared for the coroner.
