The white Mercedes was brought to a halt in Squirrels Heath Road, following a short pursuit on Monday evening.
Police say they stopped the car due to specific intelligence, which led to the vehicle and its three occupants being searched.
Officers recovered two lock knives, as well as a quantity of cocaine and cannabis.
All three men who were in the car were arrested.
The driver was detained on suspicion of possessing an weapon, driving not in accordance with his licence, driving without insurance, and also driving while over the drug limit.
The two passengers were both arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, and the vehicle was seized by police.
No vehicles were damaged in the incident, and no one was injured.
The operation was part of cross-border work with Essex Police, to target those believed to be involved in offences such as violence, carrying of weapons, burglaries and vehicle thefts.
