Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch is one of 1,300 organisations to receive help
The award is a lifeline for arts organisations like theatres, given by the government and Arts Council England.
Queen’s is one of the 1,300 organisations across the the country to receive the help.
Financially, the award represents 5% of last year’s turnover for the theatre.
Despite this, the charity will still lose out on more than £3million of income this year.
The theatre are therefore, encouraging audiences and supporters to still help by booking tickets for now and future shows.
Alternatively, supporters can donate where possible and continue to use the Cafe.
The theatre is open with Covid-19 precautions in place.
In an online statement, a spokesperson from Queen’s Theatre said: “We’re so very grateful to the DCMS and Arts Council England for the support and vote of confidence, and to everyone else who has donated so generously and helped to keep the Theatre afloat since March 2020.”
Shows such as Papalarny the Magic Man, Scratch Man and Jim Clapp’s Magnum Opus are some being performed this month.
