Police were called to Green Lane, near Goodmayes Park and Dunkeld Road, at 1.37pm on Saturday afternoon, where the victim was found suffering a stab wound.
He was taken to an east London hospital where his condition is not life threatening.
A 40-year-old woman was arrested at the scene. She was taken to an east London police station where she remains at this time.
Police are not looking for any other person in connection with the incident.
Green Lane was closed to traffic for around an hour on Saturday afternoon while police investigated.
