Bubbalah on the day he first hosted Making Memories
His family has confirmed that he passed away in hospital this morning following a short illness.
As a football agent, he negotiated deals for players including Dennis Wise, Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, and brothers Justin and John Fashanu, and also represented Terry Venables when he was England manager.
Eric, who was a presenter on Time 107.5FM up until his sad passing, was also well known for his flamboyant personality and his association with legendary performers including Freddie Mercury, Dame Vera Lynn, the Sex Pistols, and Marc Bolan, from T. Rex.
Eric first began presenting at Time 107.5FM in 2013, hosting his weekly Making Memories show every Sunday, in which he would play classic music, interview celebrity guests, and share stories of his days in show business.
He will be remembered fondly for his wicked sense of humour, and his many catchphrases including “Monster Monster” and “Push that button, Bubbalah” often said to his producer Richard Spong at the start of a song on his show.
Lorna Waters, Station Manager at Time 107.5FM, said: “We were incredibly lucky to have Eric here as part of our team for almost seven years. He amazed us with the calibre of guests he would invite onto his show and his knowledge of music was undoubtedly second to none. He has brought a lot of joy to many people with his radio shows over the years and Sunday afternoons will never be the same.
“Personally, I will miss his weekly phone calls checking in that his show was still getting good ratings and discussing his fan base. He was a true legend and a real gentleman who touched my life in many ways.”
The thoughts of everyone at Time 107.5FM are with Eric’s family at this very difficult time.
