Man’s body found in grassed area in Romford

A man’s body, thought to be missing Ricky Wellington, has been found in a grassed area in Romford.

The body was found near Crow Lane at around 2.10pm yesterday afternoon.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

The cause of death is not known.

The update comes following a police appeal to find Ricky Wellington, 33, from Hornchurch, who had been missing since Friday, 22 January.

A spokesperson from Met Police said: “At around 14.10hrs on Monday, 1 February the body of a man was found in grassed area near Crow Lane RM7.

“The family of Ricky Wellington has been informed.

“We await formal identification.

“The death is being as unexplained.”
