Two alsatians have been rescued by firefighters after they became trapped in a ditch in Tilbury.

Firefighters from Orsett were called to help the dogs in Brentwood Road at 5.04am yesterday.

Both animals were safely released within the hour by firefighters using a triple extension ladder.

An ambulance crew who were nearby also assisted the brigade with the rescue.

The animals avoided injury and are both are now safely back with their owners.

Temporary Watch Manager, Terry Myers said: “I’d like to thank our firefighters for their work this morning as well as an ambulance service crew who were nearby and helped us to create an improvised platform for the dogs to climb up during the rescue.

“We’re pleased the animals are now safe and sound, back with their owners.”
