The victim, a man aged in his 40s, was found injured near the junction of Goresbrook Road and Treswell Road at 11.55pm on Friday, 23 July.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
It was reported to police that he had been assaulted.
A post-mortem examination took place on Saturday, 25 July at Queen’s Hospital Mortuary and a provisional cause of death was determined as head injuries.
Airidas Janavicius, of Burdetts Road, Dagenham will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today charged with the murder.
The 38-year-old man was initially arrested at the scene.
