The Barking and Dagenham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards have been launched at a special event.

Past winners encouraged local business people to put themselves forward for an award at the launch event at Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club, in Victoria Road, yesterday.

There are more than ten categories companies can enter, including Person of the Year, Employer of the Year and Best New Business.

Judges will pick the Business of the Year based on the winners of the other categories.

All winners will receive an engraved trophy and framed certificate while two runners-up in each category will also receive a framed certificate.

David Collings, managing director of Online Lubricants, has won multiple awards in the past.

He said: “Entering the previous Business Awards had added great value to their business, not only as a result of winning awards, but it has added a new level of confidence to our teams.”

Many of the awards are being supported by local companies such as the Business Growth category which is sponsored by WES Industrial & Welding Supplies. Time 107.5 FM is sponsoring the Person of the Year award.

The Chamber’s president, Jamie Banks, said: “Entering the Barking & Dagenham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards is an excellent way to promote your business and gain recognition for your achievements. The Barking & Dagenham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards are a wonderful platform for celebrating and generating business success.

“There are twelve categories of awards that can be won, and whilst there is a focus on businesses located in Barking & Dagenham, there are also two categories for those businesses based outside our area which are doing business in Barking & Dagenham or which has during a businesses lifespan been located in Barking & Dagenham for at least one year.

“There are plenty of opportunities for entry and are free for all businesses to participate.”

Businesses have until midnight on Monday, 16 May to enter.
