The 17-year-old victim was stabbed in his shoulder and chest outside a block of flats in Harts Lane at around 3pm on Friday, 26 August.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Detectives believe three male suspects, who were all wearing dark clothing, left the scene in a blue Hyundai.
A crime scene remains in place while they carry out various inquiries and recover CCTV.
“My officers are working hard to identify those responsible for this attack which took place in broad daylight and could easily have proved fatal,” said Detective Sergeant Dave Parish.
“Thankfully the victim is recovering in hospital and as we continue to establish the full circumstances I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist the investigation to come forward.”
