Six fire engines were called to the scene in Main Road after a fire broke out at around 12.50am this morning.
Nearly 30 people had already evacuated an adjacent residential block when they arrived. There were no reported injuries.
The blaze badly damaged the roof of the building and destroyed a caravan.
Crews from Harold Hill, Romford, Hornchurch and Dagenham brought the fire under control by 2.20am.
The Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade are investigating the cause of the blaze.
