The college will host free art, film and gaming clubs for 13 to 16-year-olds so that they can learn new skills and explore possible career options within those industries.
“The Art & Design Saturday Club will cover a variety of activities including drawing, painting, printmaking and darkroom photography,” said a spokesperson for the college.
“The Film & Media Club introduces members to the college’s new film and audio recording studio. Members will have the opportunity to create a short film and soundtrack and then edit both into a final broadcast standard production, which will be showcased at a special event held at the college.”
Teenagers who attend the Games Art & Animation club will get to design and create a character for a computer game. They will also be able to create an animation using industry standard software.
“There is even the opportunity to hone your skills in Esports,” added the spokesperson. “Club members will be introduced to and develop various strategies for several different games on a variety of platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox and VR.
“They will also have the chance to coach their own Esports team and learn how the equipment in the college’s high tech Esports arena operates before showcasing their new skills in a mini Esports tournament.”
Club members will get to take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals. There is also the Summer Show where Saturday Clubs show their work to the public.
The first club takes place this Saturday, 8 October and the campaign runs through to June 2023.
