Dagenham man charged with murdering his mother

Police have charged a man with the murder of his mother and the attempted murder of another woman in Dagenham.

Officers responded to reports of a double stabbing at an address in Auriel Avenue at around 9.35pm on Sunday, 30 October.

Caroline Adeyelu, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene while another woman was rushed to hospital with knife wounds. Her condition has since been assessed as not life-threatening.

Nicolas Aina, 28, of Auriel Avenue, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 1 November.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 3 November.
