A machete and Samurai sword were recovered by Havering Joint Taskforce officers after they were made aware by the local authority on Tuesday, 7 March.
The two teenagers were arrested after the Council’s CCTV footage was used to locate them.
A Section 60 was placed in the area until 1am on Wednesday, 8 March as a result of the find.
In a statement on social media, Havering Police said: “This story could of had a tragic ending!
“Please call 999 if you see these kind of weapons on our streets!
“As a result a s60 CJPOA was placed onto the Elm Park ward which expired at 1am this morning (Wednesday, 8 March).”
Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 allows a police officer to stop and search a person without suspicion.
You can only be stopped and searched without reasonable grounds if it has been approved by a senior police officer.
