Body of missing man from Walthamstow found in woods

The body of a missing 69-year-old man from Walthamstow has been found.

Sydney Piper was last seen on Chingford Road on Thursday, 23 February.

His body was found in a wooded area near’ the Waterworks Roundabout, in Woodford New Road a month later (Friday, 24 March).

The discovery followed a police appeal in the area to find him.

Met Police say following a post mortem which took place on Thursday, 30 March, DNA comparison has now been completed and it has been confirmed that this is Sydney Piper.

The cause of death awaits, but it is being treated as unexplained and not suspicious at this time.

Mr Piper’s family have been informed.
