Elderly man identified as murder victim at Harold Wood station

An elderly man has been identified as the victim of a murder at Harold Wood station.

Bernard Fowler, 87, was found by a member of staff badly hurt on the station floor at 4.30am on Tuesday, 27 February.

Emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service, attended the scene.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bernard’s family has asked for their privacy to be respected at this time.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sam Painter said: “My thoughts are with Bernard’s family and loved ones at this time. His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

“I know how shocking and concerning this incident has been to the community and I would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident. I would ask the public not to speculate any further on the incident.

“We are carrying out high visibility patrols in the area and are working alongside our colleagues at the Metropolitan Police to provide visible reassurance.”

Miles Skai, 22, from Brent Cross in Hendon, has been charged in connection with his murder and will next appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 1 March.
