Firefighters were called to Roding Road last night
London Fire Brigade were sent reports of a strong smell of chemicals in Roding Road at around 11.18pm last night (Monday, 18 March).
80 people left the area before emergency services arrived.
Around 40 firefighters attended the scene from East Ham, Plaistow, Dowgate and surrounding fire stations.
A 100-metre hazard zone was set up whilst a monitoring sweep was carried out. No elevated readings of chemical substances were found.
The incident was over for firefighters by around 3am.
