The atrium piano had to be moved during Covid, but now it’s back in place, alongside pianist Colin, who has also returned.
In a statement online, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University NHS Hospitals Trust, who run Queen’s said: “Colin isn’t just a piano player. He’s also a big supporter of our hospital charity.
“He’s raised £17,700 over the years. His hard work and love for our hospital have made him a key part of our community.”
Colin said: “I’m so glad the piano is back – I really missed playing it. It’s great to have it in the atrium again!”
Residents are also able to play the piano themselves by speaking with reception staff first.
The hospitals trust said: “When we had to move the piano during the pandemic, everyone missed it. We had lots of requests to bring it back, so we knew it was important.
“We’re now inviting anyone who can play to join Colin and play the piano in the atrium again. The music helps make our hospital a nicer place.”
