Car park users warned of scams in Havering and Ilford

Drivers in Havering are being warned to be vigilant of scammers in the car parks.

Car park users have been approached by individuals informing them of issues to the free parking system.

They then state the necessity to re-enter the vehicle registration on the meter and use payment card.

Havering Police said: “This appears to be a scam.”

The scammers have been reported in various locations including Collier Row, Hornchurch, Cranham, Harold Hill, Gallows Corner and Ilford.

“If you are approached in a similar manner, please do report to the car park management.

“If you have been a victim of this scam, you should report to police via met.police.uk or call 101.

“Always 999 in an emergency or if the suspect is still at location.”
