London Ambulance Service were called to the venue just after 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 25 April) after a person became unwell.
Emergency services attended but despite the effort of paramedics, the man died at the scene.
The death is being treated as unexpected but non-suspicious.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.33am today (25 April) to reports of a person unwell at Harrow Lodge Park, Hornchurch.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer.
“Our first paramedic arrived on scene in approximately three minutes.
“Very sadly, despite the efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The Metropolitan Police were also called to the scene.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at around 09:03hrs to a report of a person unwell at a leisure centre on Hornchurch Road.
“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. Sadly, despite the best efforts of centre staff and first responders, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed.”
