The offences took place at the BP Garage, in The Broadway throughout November and December this year.
A male suspect was caught on Friday morning after it was reported approx £50 tinned biscuits and chocolate had been taken.
After a short struggle with officers on the ground, the man was arrested on suspicion of theft.
One officer received a small cut to his hand during the arrest.
The man was remanded to court where he was sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment and fined £1646.58.
