Families who are eligible can get £15 per child (Credit: Havering Council)
The School Holiday Meal Scheme will help families in need to purchase food that their children would have received if they were at school.
Eligible families will be able to apply for £15 per child from Monday 18, October until the following Monday 25, October.
The funds have been made available from the Government’s Household Support Fund and Havering Helps, a package of measures worth more than £2 million.
If people are already registered and eligible then they will automatically receive the funds directly into their account on the week beginning Monday 25, October.
Councillor Damian White, leader of Havering Council, said: “I am pleased to say that we can continue to provide support with meals for families who are most in need during the half-term break.
“When the coronavirus crisis first started I was extremely concerned about those who were most in need and I quickly decided that we needed to provide this vital help to local families alongside with other support.
“We will continue to do all we can as we recover from this pandemic.”
