Man charged after 21 people found in lorry trailer in Tilbury

A man’s been charged after 21 people were found in a lorry trailer in Tilbury.

Officers were called to Tilbury Port on Tuesday, 25 July after the group, including eight juveniles and one pregnant woman, were found.

All 21 people received a medical check and were deemed safe and well.

A man, Alexandru Vasile, was arrested at the scene.

Following a police investigation, the 27-year-old has since been charged with Section 25 Immigration Act- assisting unlawful immigration into the UK.

He’s due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, 24 August.
