Public vote opens for this year’s Havering Small Business Awards

Havering Small Business Awards 2024 

Residents can now vote for their favourite businesses in Havering ahead of the borough’s Small Business Awards.

Now in their third year, the Havering Small Business Awards give recognition and a platform for local businesses in the area.

The awards format changed this year to help encourage even more companies from across the whole borough to enter, with the first round of nominations open for businesses to nominate themselves.

It is now over to the community to vote for their favourites among the finalists in each category.

The awards, run by Havering Council, are split into 10 categories representing the wide range of small businesses in Havering. These categories are:
• Best Small or Independent Business, sponsored by Oakleafe Claims
• Best Beauty or Service Business, sponsored by The Havering Daily
• Best Take Away, sponsored by The Havering Daily
• Best Hospitality Business, sponsored by Hills Prospect
• Best Tradesperson, , sponsored by Essex Service Group
• Best Customer Experience, sponsored by Oakleafe Claims
• Best Shopfront, sponsored by K&T Heating
• Best Social Enterprise or CIC, , sponsored by Jax Sun Services
• Best Newcomer (less than a year old), supported by Havering Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Best Sustainable Business, sponsored by Havering Works, Mayor of London, Levelling Up and HM Government
• The Havering Small Business of the Year Award

The first ten categories are open to nominations from all residents, with the final award, the ‘Havering Small Business of the Year’ chosen from the winners of the other awards by a panel of Council officers, Cabinet Members and sponsors.

Nominations opened at 9am on Monday, 10 June and will close at 4pm on Friday, 19 July 2024, giving residents five weeks to vote for their favourite businesses for each of the categories.

The awards main sponsor is Havering’s 12 Estates Regeneration Joint Venture Partner, Wates and the media sponsor is TIME 107.5 FM.

Finalists will be invited to a special evening reception in September where the winners will be announced.
