Cannabis and Class A drugs were found at the man’s home (credit: Met Police)
The 26-year-old had been driving erratically on High Street just before 9pm on Monday 11th January.
After initially refusing to get out of his car, he tried to run away from police when he was stopped on Northern Road.
He was detained for driving over the drug and alcohol limit and a large bag of cannabis was found in his car.
A search of the man’s home uncovered more cannabis, as well as Class A drugs and around £28,000 in cash.
He has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply and for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
Inspector Tony McGovern, from the Met’s Violent Crime Taskforce, said: “The use and supply of drugs brings misery to local communities, while the danger posed to the public and police by those driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol quite simply cannot, and will not, be tolerated.”
