Ilford South MP Mike Gapes denies leaving Labour

Mike Gapes has confirmed he remains the Labour and Co-operative MP for Ilford South following media reports.

The Daily Mail claimed last week that he had resigned from the party but Mike Gapes confirmed to Time 107.5 that is not the case and he is still a Labour and Co-Operative MP.

He later tweeted: “In the words of Mark Twain. ‘This report is greatly exaggerated.'”

Mike Gapes has been critical of the party’s leadership in recent months.
