After hitting her £1,000 target in under 24 hours, 19 year-old Olivia Smith is hoping to raise at least £2,000 for Mitchell’s Miracles by the time of her wing walk on Saturday, 19 June.
Mitchell’s Miracles is a Romford-based charity which provides emotional and financial support to families with a child receiving care for the childhood cancer Neuroblastoma.
Around 100 children are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma every year, with Mitchell’s Miracles aiming to raise awareness of the early signs and symptoms of the cancer.
Olivia Smith said: “When my Mum and Dad’s pub, The Wheatsheaf in Romford, shut due to Covid-19, I started up my own business – Olivia Mae Marketing – helping local businesses with their marketing and social media.
“This led me on to working with Darren Jones at Carbon Sure Consulting, which is based on Eastern Road in Romford. Darren has been sponsoring various events for Mitchell’s Miracles for a number of years through his business, which is a business energy consultancy.
“However, this year Darren heard about the wing walk and since there are not many other events, he decided to sponsor me to do the wing walk.”
