A man from South Woodford has been jailed for the historic sexual abuse of a child.
Lawrence Graham, 53 and of High Road, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court earlier today.
The incidents of abuse involved a nine-year-old girl and took place between 1976 and 1977.
Graham was sentenced for two counts of indecent assault.
He received 20 months for each count; to run concurrently.
He is also subject to a 10-year notification requirement.
In August 2016 the victim came forward to police to report the historic sexual abuse.
Graham was arrested and charged in July last year and pleaded guilty.
Detective Constable Kelly Smith, of the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command, said: “I thank the victim for having the bravery to come forward and tell her story which must have been extremely difficult.
“I want this sentence to reassure other victims that the Met will always fully investigate these allegations, no matter how long ago they happened.”
