Foundation Sports deliver sports education to 10,000 children across 300 schools
Foundation Sports has been granted planning permission for the new pavilion, which will offer sports training to local young people.
The sports coaching company has been awarded a lease by Redbridge Council and hopes to build an 8,000 square foot building to increase local sports provision.
Two classrooms will provide childcare before and after school, with theory-based sports studies for 16-18 year-olds during the main school day.
The centre will also offer a nursery for up to 50 pre-school children and inclusive activities for local young people at weekends.
Tony Charles is the director of Foundation Sports, which delivers sports coaching to over 10,000 children.
He said, “I am honoured to have this opportunity to be able to increase the provision of sports participation for young people in the borough.
“Sport gives children the opportunity to achieve and to feel included.
“It gives boys and girls the chance to shine and have their moment, when perhaps they may struggle to do so in other settings.”
He believes sport is essential for the physical and mental wellbeing of young people and hopes the new hub will encourage community participation.
The three acre site, on Snakes Lane East, has lain derelict and overgrown for 15 years.
Tony Charles is appealing to the community for help to transform the land and has set up a JustGiving page to raise additional funds.
